Regal Fabrics, based just north of Boston, is a leading producer of fabrics for some of the country’s largest furniture manufacturers, major fabrics distributors and more. Emphasizing top quality in product, service, and delivery, Regal has a full design studio creating original, copyright protected designs in a wide range of durable fabric constructions. Our customers look to us for trending designs, colors and collections, as well as a large assortment of beautiful plain fabrics in a full range of colors, textures, and performance finishing at great prices.
Since Herb and Arlene Kahan started the company in 1987, Regal has remained true to the founding values of quality and service. Expanding well beyond an initial reputation as “The Tapestry Source”, we offer distinctively styled textiles with both residential and commercial applications, and supply customers from many industries all over the world. Major new collections from Regal’s design team are introduced to customers twice a year during Showtime at our beautiful showroom in High Point, NC.
Today, Regal is dedicated to continued distinction in fabric design, construction and quality, and excellence in communication and service. We strive to put our customers’ needs first, surpass expectations, and to turn each relationship into a lasting partnership. To accommodate continuing growth, in 2019 Regal moved into its new 90,000+ sq ft home, to set a foundation for delivery efficiency and customer satisfaction in years to come.
Regal Fabrics Inc. is founded by Herb and Arlene Kahan in a 5,000 square foot unit in a new Danvers, MA industrial park. Though Arlene sadly passed in 2017 after 30 years in the business and 60+ years of marriage, Herb continues to serve as CEO today.
Using mill contacts he’d made in a 30+ year career in the industry, Herb begins to import and sell Italian tapestries, with a focus on fast delivery of the latest European styles to the American market.
Herb + Arlene’s son Steve Kahan joins Regal. Steve continues to serve as company President.
After hiring several experienced textile designers, Regal becomes a true “convertor” working with partner mills to create trademarked original patterns. Today, the design department employs a number of talented people collaboratively creating ~300 new fabric SKU’s per collection.
Daughter Ronda Kahan-Wilson joins Regal. Ronda continues to serve as company Vice President.
Regal is known as “The Tapestry Source,” supplying decorative and novelty tapestry fabrics to the furniture and fashion industries.
Regal Purchases 35000 ft2 building in Middleton, MA, establishing its first standalone headquarters.
After showing in the temporary area for years, Regal opens permanent showroom in High Point, NC. We continue to present our newest collections twice per year at Showtime. Come visit us on the 2nd floor of Marketplace Tower!
Regal acquires Krelan Fabrics and incorporates more high-end designs into product mix.
In order to provide a wider range of fabric constructions and designs, Regal begins sourcing fabrics in China in addition to Europe.
Regal’s best-sellers are increasingly textured plains used as upholstery body cloths, leading to a release of the Modern Textures group of popular plains. This collection-based marketing has continued with the Price Point Plains group, Performance by Regal, and further congruence in Regal’s semi-annual product releases.
Top 3 colors of best-selling upholstery pattern R-Turbo combined for sales of over 500,000 yards in 1 year!
Construction begins on new 94,000 ft2 headquarters to feature state of the art office, swatch-production, and design development spaces, updated machinery and ample warehouse space for continued expansion. Herb & Arlene’s oldest grandchildren, Scott and Andy join the Regal Fabrics team.
After 32 years, Regal unveils a new visual identity to reflect the modernization of both the industry and the company.
